We are seeking to create “master lists” of existing information (data) relating to the aforementioned archives. Historians and collectors have done a great job accumulating information in these specific categories but the information remains scattered. The project is seeking to bring it all together. With some exceptions, the project will not seek to obtain the underling materials. However, whenever practicable, we will attempt to notate the availability status of items in the genome and the logical contacts who may have the actual materials related to the listed information available.
Virtually anyone with information germane to the archives listed can contribute to the genome. People can contribute anonymously if they choose. An anonymous donor will be known to the directors of the project but not to the public. Those who have significant involvement can remain anonymous or if they desire they can have their biography and other pertinent information listed on the website.
For those archives already posted on the website, we are seeking information that is not already listed.
For those archives enumerated but not listed on the website, “Initial Depositors” will be needed. An initial depositor is an individual or entity that possesses substantial existing information in an archival category that they are willing to share with the project. By engaging those with substantial information first, the time- consuming process of cross-referencing dozens of lists will be avoided. Ideally, with just a few initial depositors, the majority of the information in the category will be set. At that point, potential contributors can review the existing lists on the website and identify what information is still needed to be provided to the project.
Ways to contribute to the project
An individual who provides significant start-up content to the genome.
Any individual who provides significant content to the genome regardless of when donated.
Any individual who provides content to the genome no matter how small .
Staff Positions with the project
Leads their respective archival division. Coordinates and works with the Executive Director in shaping the specific parameters of the division. Reviews potential content information provided by the public. Works with the Executive Director in the managing of content in their respective archival division and spearheads the cataloging efforts of that information. The director can be a significant depositor of original genome content. “Initial Depositors,” will be given preferential consideration for the position of Director.
Assists the director in the managing and cataloging of archival content. Ideally, there should be more than one archivist in each archival division.
Has a particular expertise in one of the archival divisions. Is available to the project for assistance, but is not involved with the management of the information or the public directly.
Has a particular boxing expertise not directly tied to an archival division. Is available to the project for assistance, but does not deal with the public directly. For example, an individual who has a specific expertise regarding a particular boxer, ethnic group of boxers, or geographic region, would make ideal advisors.
